Anal Bunghole Blah Blah Blah….
July 23, 2007He’s home, poor boy.
He’s topped off with his cone/lampshade. He’s still sedated.
Yes, that’s my lap he’s delirious on. Yes, I am a little relieved. Yes, Fa is happy once again. Yes, this will happen again. And Yes, the only way to prevent it going this far is to bring him in every 3-6 moths for a “draining”!
Apparently, BT’s are prone to anal abcesses in their anal glands. Yummy. And…Figures.
So poor Tartsie needs to rest tonight and I’m sure by tomorrow he’ll be his regular pain in the ass…pardon the pun.
I have to say, I hated seeing Fa sad. All day long. And I felt terribly guilty for wishing bad things on the furniture eater/floor shitter/shit eater.
I have a newfound admiration for the way this kid loves this dog and for the joy he brings her.
I do appreciate him. I really do understand how important he is to her.
I have to deal now.
And no more threatening to get rid of him…It makes her anxious. And now that I saw it almost happen…I don’t want to do that to her again. I felt horrible.
Plus, she’s potty trained. Now, his turn.
If he can get his anal sacs outta the way.
Out of curiousity – I heard from a animal show dog person that if you get their anal glands squeeze (OMG, I can’t believe I just typed THAT) it can make them more prone to that happening. I have never gotten hers done.
Well, I am glad he is feelin better. If you can – its usually cheaper to do it at a Petco/Petsmart place where they do grooming.
So, are we officially closer now? Talking about squeezing your dog’s butt gland juice usually does that.

Okay, that is just most pitiful face.
Poor guy with his anal baggage.
by Mamma July 23, 2007 at 9:00 pmyou know, I think Mama Tulip’s MIL knows a little something about that sort of drainage… maybe you should talk to her about it…

by SciFi Dad July 23, 2007 at 9:00 pmPoor doggie. Poor Mommy. Anal sacs? Ew. Not my favorite part about dogs. At. All.
by Mrs. Chicky July 23, 2007 at 9:00 pmLook at that pitiful face! I have to laugh at the irony of him having a bunghole problem.
It’s amazing how much they mean to our kids. My baby is so crazy about our dog and I know she’ll be looking for him after he’s gone. But I’m glad she’s had some time with him. My older kids will be a mess. I keep explaining to them that part of owning a dog is knowing they will get old and possibly sick. I remind them to focus on the great years they had. I’m sorry! I’m making this about me! Can you tell I’m having a hard time with the impending death of my dog?
by Slackermommy July 23, 2007 at 10:00 pmHi there-
by Heather July 23, 2007 at 11:00 pmPippin has had some problems in that area as well too. No abcesses, but he has had an infection. We take him into the vet every couple months to have those lovely anal glands expressed. I’m sorry you all had to go through that, but I’m glad the pup’s back home and Fa is happy again! I knew you liked that dog at least a little bit. π Take care!
Poor puppy! Glad he’s recovering, as is Fa.
by Jennifer aka Binky Bitch July 24, 2007 at 8:00 amDo you have to help Artie “express himself” with your own HANDS? GAH!
by Oh, The Joys July 24, 2007 at 9:00 am“…no more threatening to get rid of him…”
It was only a matter of time, but I knew it!!! The dog and Fa win!
How you ever thought you would possibly get away with that one is beyond me…
